Bad Teinach, Black Forest, Germany

In 1985 a water source heat pump was fitted to heat an open air swimming pool in the south of Germany. The principal is exactly the same as the one at Lazonby. However, the design uses some very high quality components. No doubt it cost considerably more to install than the one at azonby (£4,700 in 1982), but this system which is about 25 years old, is still going strong. There is no reason why this system should not continue to run for many years to come.

The compressors were manufacturered in Germany by Bitzer... Good solid German engineering.
The unit was manufactured by CombiTherm of Fellbach near Stuttgart

Bad Teinach community swimming pool. Built in the 1930's, and still going strong.

The stream running alongside the pool acts as the heat source.
